Yeah, I'm out of a host now. I lost my .css files, a couple of folders, and my database. Not much of a loss, but dramatic nonetheless.
Do you guys have any suggestions for REALLY cheap hosts? I paid 12$ a year for 1 gig and 10 gig bandwidth. So I need something in that price frame. Any ideas?
Once you go below x amount per month for web hosting, I believe you're basically putting your site at risk of disappearing at anytime. The cheapest web host I've hosted with that I can reasonably recommend would be Site5.com (http://www.site5.com/)

I'll give you 2 gb/20 gb bandwidth for $20USD/year - payable via PayPal. For $30USD/year I'll give you a MySQL db and give you 3gb/30gb
You can have a subdomain on any of my domains (they're all in my sig) or I can register you one for another $11USD/year.
PM me or email me if you're interesting.

http://icora.co.uk/ does 2GB space and unlimited data transfer for £12 a year. I've been with them for a while and it's all been good.

I'll look into Icora, and Site5. Andrew, the problem with that is my host was VERY generous for very cheap. The only problem was a small database failure which lost several backups and such. I had infinite SQL databases, cPanel, like 2 addon domains, and quite a bit more for the cheapest price I could find. Icora seems promising, and Site5 seems like it might offer a good reseller option.

I second Siteflip. I've their hosting for about 3 years now. No issues and it seems my bandwidth and storage keep increasing each year free of charge.

My regular dreamhost plug (http://twodayslate.wordpress.com/2007/03/31/dreamhost-promo-codes-inexpensive-but-great-hosting-97-discount/).
I am now hosted with webhostingpad.com

me i'm with godaddy & free hosting, pay $9/yr for the domain, pretty standard otherwise.... annoying ads mess with your scripts though & nothing will validate because of the tag murder they do to try to make sure you don't cover their ads
works & cheap though

If you rely on your hosting you might want to pay something extra. I've bin with a couple of hosters in the last past years and trust me i rather pay for some decent quality instead the cheapest possible with stuff like this, that you will lose your work.
A few doom scenarios where that they restored a backup from 2 weeks ago, other users who where messing with the machines load with bogus mysql scripts , or a complete blackout since the host itself was'nt paying for their Co-location nor bandwith anymore.
I rather pay 100 euro's a year for decent quality hosting with a fallback system and independent daily backups on a dedicated machine :)
