Hi,

For some reason my speakers are not generating enough sound. As a result I cannot enjoy movies on my PC due to low sound.

Is there any software available (free would be nice) that would do an amplifying job for me?

Please help.

Thanx

What about changing the settings for the audio codec you are using on your computer? It might have settings to increase the gain on the output.

What program are you using to play the movies? And what audio codec are you using?

Audacity (http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&ct=res&cd=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Faudacity.sourceforge.net%2F&ei=o8r2R9n9MIu8zQThxuDdDA&usg=AFQjCNEjZ2LIXUq09FvorQJKXfovOmNfWg&sig2=PHx0NGZi1E8AlfWtViQQRQ) Is a very nice sound manipulation program that I have used for years- and one of it's many features includes sound amplification.

I am presuming that you haven't already extracted the audio from your video file... so you are going to need http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/ to extract the audio in a format that Audacity can handle (use WAV for this situation in order to preserve as much audio quality as possible), edit it, and then put it back in.

BE SURE NOT TO CHANGE THE LENGTH OF THE AUDIO CLIP! Doing so will cause you to have to realign the audio with the video so it plays in sync which is a pain in the donkey. (If you do, try out VirtualDub (http://www.virtualdub.org/))

Good luck!
