I've this problem before, its dreamweaver refusing to connect.

I seemed to fix it before by turning my windows firewall off and it happened to stop this problem once before. But now no success.

Other ftp programs work fine and my other pc is fine. Any advice and I would be very happy.

Ps passwords are correct I'm sure and other settings in dreamweaver look ok, it was working fine 3 days ago :(

Buying a new computer isn't going to help you.

Try this. Open up a command prompt and connect to your ftp server that way and see if you get blocked. This will determine if you are having a firewall problem or if Dreamweaver is not set up correctly. So in the command prompt type

ftp <IP Address of your ftp server>

or whatever domain you type in to connect to your FTP server. You should connect and be prompted to log in. Log in with your username and password.

Yes I done that, I done ftp mywebsite.com

and entered login stuff and it worked.

So what next, I guess its not my firewal

The problem then would either be your Dreamweaver settings or your firewall is not allowing Dreamweaver to make an FTP connection. I haven't used Dreamweaver in many years so I am not up to speed on the settings it uses. Besides the Windows firewall do you have any other firewall software installed on your PC? Norton, ZoneAlarm, etc? Firewall software like those can allow specific kinds of connections on a per program basis so it could very well allow the FTP command in Windows through but disallow Dreamweaver from doing that.

This is just a shot in the dark, but when I used dreamweaver (years ago) it always had a problem connecting if I had the wrong "Remote Directory". So, I usually just left that blank and if fixed most of the issues.

putting that blank didn't help:(

When I do go to the remote settings dreamweaver sayswarning, the selected folder does not contain the sites rootfolder...site map cannot be built

but that shouldn't effect the connection problems

I remember DW also not saving some ftp passwords sometimes. I had to manually enter it each time.
