What to look for in a hosting company for a local government site.

Our current city web site gets about 150 hits a day. Some of the features we have are podcasts, mayor's blog, event calendars. We are developing in L.A.M.P. programming environment. The site has about 100 pages. We are looking to develop the site in house and host it on a creditable and reliable hosting company. We were thinking about Godaddy's dedicated server.

What you guys think about them?
Where do other local government host their sites?
What are some of the features I need to worry about?
What are other good hosting company?

I wouldn't host with Godaddy because they are primarily a domain company, and are quite less reputable for hosting. And you don't need a dedicated server for anything less than a gigabyte of data transfer daily and/or very heavy php/mysql/cpu usage, let alone a couple hundred hits daily, so I'd get an account on a good shared server from a company like DownTownHost (I have an affiliate link in my sig), or anything else from here (http://whreviews.com/), with the exception of HostGator.

Also, the benefit of a shared server is it's completely manged (I'm not sure how manged Godaddy's dedicated servers are, that is, how much configuration, (security and version) updating you'd have to do yourself or hire someone to do).
