Advice on video please

I have been given a video to put on a website. It comprises some .VOB files (it has sound). I have made a .mpg file from it but it is 65Mb in size. I suspect this is too huge for the website as I have two of them.

When I import the .mpg into Flash (I am by no means an expert user) and go to make it into a flv (which I assume if the best way to get it on the web), the program seems to want over an hour to convert it! So I assume it is still going to be a huge file.

Any advice on which way I should go here to get a smaller file?

It will actually be smaller. I suggest converting it using a standalone program. Flash 8 and Flash 9 have video encoders that came with them. Convert it to an flv. File size will likely be two thirds the original size. Good thing with playing .flv files in flash is you can download them progressively meaning the whole video doesn't have to load before it starts playing. Don't assume until you actually try something.

Thankyou. I went for a walk whilst it processed the task and came up with an 8Mb file which is more reasonable. I have two problems:

1. The sound is too quiet and I see no controls to alter it in Flas 8.

2. I want to prevent people downloading the file which I understand with progressive download is not possible. Is there a fix to prevent this?
