Could you be a bit more specific in what you are trying to accomplish? If all you want is a simple username/password check, there are hundreds of good tutorials and pre-written scripts out there.

What im trying to do is to let people sign up - username/passwrd chek and downloads only for members

Again ... many scripts already written.
Using an existing script will save you tons of time.
