Trying to run Windows 2003 Server as a workstation/desktop at the moment. One problem doing this is that the security products I usually use don't work. For firewall, Comodo 3 doesn't install, but Comodo 2.4 works, so I'm using that for now. Neither AVG nor Avast! works. The only free antivirus I've been able to find that works on Win2k3 Server is ClamWin (http://www.clamwin.com/), the quality of which I know nothing.
So, anybody know some good, free firewall and antivirus software that works on Win2k3 Server that I might have missed?

AVG Antivirus is okay.Yeah, but the free version doesn't work on Win2k3 Server.

Yeah I just read that. ClamWin looks like a keeper for now. Only problem is it has no real-time scanner.

It would appear you have the exact same dilemma as me at the minute, except I only need Anti Virus. Grisoft *used* to let you install AVG Free on Server 2k3 until they discovered what a lot of people were doing or something. I'll probably go with Network Edition sometime.
I reckon though you're going to be pretty stumped at finding a half decent free anti virus which'll run on Server 2k3. I've never used ClamWin on 2k3 so I can't really say anything on it.
In terms of firewall, why do you want a software client side firewall? Are you going to be using it in addition to a hardware firewall built into a router or such like? If so, why?
Jamie.

I reckon though you're going to be pretty stumped at finding a half decent free anti virus which'll run on Server 2k3. I've never used ClamWin on 2k3 so I can't really say anything on it.It found 23 viruses in my old saved mailboxes. (I never deleted spam, just archived it, so that's a few GBs of spam) Those mailboxes have been scanned and cleansed by every antivirus I've used in the mean time (AVG, Avast! and PC-Cillin) already. So the scanner seems decent enough. It's the lack of a runtime scanner that worries me.In terms of firewall, why do you want a software client side firewall? Are you going to be using it in addition to a hardware firewall built into a router or such like? If so, why?I've had double firewalls for years... hardware firewalls protects from incoming connections, but hardly from outgoing connections. Since I'm running Win2k3 Server as a desktop, I'll be running slightly lower security than a server system usually has, and use lots of programs that make connections to "arbitrary" locations.

Try the G-Data program ( www.gdata.de )
It works with Win2k3 Server.
