Does commenting the PHP scripts make it slower to execute?

Hi Guyz,
I heard somewhere that comments in a PHP script can slow down its execution.
Is that true?

The reason I am asking is that I am making a mailing list manager in PHP-MySQL and need to comment those scripts. If its gonna slow down, then i think I will release it in 2 editions: Uncommented and Commented(for hobbysist, modders, etc.)

pmsl...not adding comments will definitely not slow down ur application...but, it will definitely stop other people from understanding it....comments are ignored by the php interpreter so don't worry
