Internet explore 5 not showing applets. Says browser does not support java applets. Went to tools/ advance tab and look to find java vm.Not there. How can I enable veiwing of applets without java vm. Also is microsoft vm the same as java vm.

Microsoft removed support for Java out of WinXP which is what I assume you are running???
You can either download the JVM from Sun Microsystems or wait for Microsoft to produce a patch for WinXP. I heard they are suppose to come out with a patch for WinXP to install their JVM so applets can once again be run.

what about able to see if its installed say on win 98 and win 95? should i not see it under tools ,advanced tab and have it listed there?

Can't say... its been years since i've used either extensively enough.
However your JVM may have gotten damaged. Try downloading it from Sun. The link should be in the thread i mentioned earlier.
See if that fixes the problem.
