Microsoft is giving away free copies of Visual Studio 2008 professional to any students(high school or college). Just thought that any other students on here may be interested in free stuff.

Wasn't VirtualPC free in the first place?

Wasn't VirtualPC free in the first place?Yes. As were the * Express Edition products. The DreamSpark downloads are covered by Microsoft's student license system though, instead of Genuine Advantage.

Hmm my school isn't in the list...
I could go through the journaled site, I guess but don't feel like it.

I had to sign up with that JourneyEd site and do the mock purchase(no payment information or anything was requried). Other than that, the process was easy.

It links to it from the URL above. When you get to the verify step, there is a link for "alternative" methods of verification. That will take you to the JourneyEd site where you can make an account and do a mock purchase to get verified with the DreamSpark website. After the legwork, its easy as clicking a download link, and copying the product key.

Mhmmm, I almost thought I qualified for that. Except over here "school" or "college" doesn't refer to University. I'm not at university yet (I'm in my senior year of sixth form)

Too bad I'm not still in college (hah!) - if that were the case, I would be all over this offer...
