So i downloaded and installed ubuntu for a duel boot. and i have a few questions

Its amazing and all, but i dont know anything about linux.

Im going to be a c++ developer and im currently taking c++ courses.

I looked online on how to do this but nothing was clear.

Does anyone know the best linux software for developing c++ apps?

I cant find anything that i understand.

Im hopefully looking for something like visual c++ express. something like that.

any help is appreciated.

I highly recommend NetBeans.

You can use it to develop C++ applications as well as Java applications.

http://www.netbeans.org/

If you decide to go ahead with NetBeans, please note that you need to install Sun-Java...and you can do that on Ubuntu by executing the following command within your terminal

sudo apt-get install sun-java6-jre sun-java6-plugin sun-java6-fonts

Accept terms and conditions...and then install NetBeans

There is also Eclipse which is fairly popular.

Check out KDevelop, it's pretty slick and integrates better with the desktop than the Java-based IDEs even if you don't use KDE (I don't, but the KDE apps seem to be clearly superior to their Gnome counterparts)

Code::Blocks might also interest you.
