WMP not playing mpeg

Hi, im using winXP with WMP 11, any one know of a codec i can download and install for decent play back?

A codec for Windows's stand-alone WMP11 eh? I'm runnin the exact same setup as you: WinXP and WMP11- I don't think I needed to install a seperate codec to play anything.. You can grab every codec in one pack, that should definately have you covered, from http://www.codecguide.com/download_mega.htm

If you just want a good player, you could use VLC Media Player. It has all it's own codecs inbuilt and doesn't have to install them WMP style. Has always decoded and encoded great as far as I've used it. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/
