Hello,

Recently ive been having a strange problem with my computer connecting to my home network and out to the internet as a result.

I will be sitting here on my computer either playing a online game or just browsing the web and my connection will just die and wont reconnect automatically. However, I have found that while playing my game (Anarchy Online) that if I notice that my connection has been lost soon enough and if I unplug the cable from the back of my computer and then replug it in...I get my connection back and I dont get knocked off the game.

I am unsure of what to attribute this wonderful problem to as the rest of my computers on my network dont seem to share this problem (two wired desktops and a wireless laptop). I have however recently reformatted this computer and did the usual reinstall of windows etc, drivers are installed for the card and what have you. My guess is that it would be the network cable, but the cable has worked fine for months and when I lose connection im not wiggling it or anything and when I have connection everything works fine.

Since I started writing this post a few minutes ago ive already had to unplug and replug my cable 3 times, so as you can imgaine this is quite frustrating. I would greatly appreciate it if anyone could lead me in the direction of solving this problem, hopefully someone has a clue of what may be happening because im completely lost as to why it is happening and why it gets fixed (albeit shortly) by just unplugging and replugging the cable.

Thank you in advance.

Just an idea, could it be the phone service? Something a little similar happened to me, and when a trouble light on my alert system control blinked (signifying problems with the phone line) my internet would go down. I didn't try un-plugging the cable, though.

These two instances may be non-related, just wanted to mention it.

I dont think the phone would be causing the problem. I forgot to mention that I am running a cable connection via Comcast cable, and the desktop I am on now is also wired. So the phone shouldn't be interfering with the wired networks.

I left my computer on for 2 hours while I was away at the college for the night, and am now coming back and It doesnt seem that I lost connection while I was out, because when it was going out..it was staying out. And this seems to be consistent with what I also failed to mention. That being that It will go out at inconsistent intervals for about 30minutes give or take, and then it wont go out anymore. This has been the case so far, but I dont wanna say that for certain.

Well Ive ruled out that the cable isnt the problem, Have had my laptop connected exclusively via the cable (wireless off) and have had no problems connection wise. I think my computer itself is just past its prime being about 4 years old. I went so far as to just reformat the computer and reinstall everything fresh assuming that there may be a conflict somewhere in the file system...alas that didnt solve the problem.
