Hey, I am trying to do an intro page for a site im making and need some help with it. I know what i want it to do and after countless tries, i just cant get it so i thought i would challenge you guys with it. Here is my plan:

First off the site is called GyroTech. Here is how i want the G to roll in:

I want it to go in a circle lik that for it can lock in like this:

Also as you see when it locks in I want 4 bullets to hit each corner of the image. The bullets i want to be screws like goin in with a bullet sound thou. Then it needs to say "Welcome to GyroTech where your order is geard to top performance." In a womens voice but sounding digital. Its alot but can you guys help me out please?

wow you're asking for a lot there!

A couple of tips... if you want it nicely rendered in 3DS MAX, it will be a big file. I would not recommend doing that - people will not thank you for it.

It would be better to do it in Flash, if you are really keen on having this animation.

Oh and btw "geard" is spelt "geared" :p

Good luck :)

You will have a tough time getting free help for this one. It would take an extremely generous flash developer to do this right. From my experience, most people with that level of Flash knowledge would want to get paid for their hours of work.

I would too.

Yep.. and you'd need someone to do a voice over for the audio component. And then you can "digitize" it on the computer like you want or you can produce it on the computer initially.... but a voice over would sound better.

What you need/want is what people get paid to do, it is unfourtantly outside most people's generosity.

Some of what you described wouldn't be too hard to do in Flash, you should learn it. You might be suprised with lots of hours of work what you could probably produce yourself.

I'd do it in 3D S MAX but my 56k would die trying to upload such a file.

I echo what was said about learning flash. You should be able to do the animation within the first hour of learning it.

The real cheap and easy way would be to make your full body G and then create multiple scenes that would have progressive parts (in reverse) masked off, thus acheiving the effect of having the G moving in. Then export them as individual images and then import them into Flash as a series of images. Like I said, this is the cheap way...you are going to get huge bandwidth issues and real bad framerates on older machines.

You could do the same effect in Flash and use a mask layer there as well, but you'd need to spend more time on the G itself (gradient, beveling, etc.) to get it as clean as a PS version.

You also could do your construct layering in 3DSM and import it into flash as a BG only (the nuts/bolts/whatever).

Don't think of doing this with one program or one method. You are going to need to combine techniques...the only real way you would ever do this with 3DSM only is if this was going to be presented on CD or in video...not on a site.

How can I get old 3D studio max to work on Windows XP? I just got an old 3D studio Max version 2.5 from a friend and tried to install it on my Windows XP machine. Installation seems to go fine, until it tries to install QuickTime (And I have QT version 7.1.5 installed... the Max program is about 10 years old...), comes to a halt for a few seconds, and then claims to be done.
