Well, from what I've been hearing, HTML 5 is in testing right now (due for release soon) and the next PHP is almost done. =/. A lot of things are becoming depreciated in HTML 5, for instance, frameset I heard is going the way of the buffalo =/... :(.

My only source is http://www.w3.org/

(This ISN'T just covering HTML 5. There's also PHP being released, there's a new version of MySQL.)

I think it came at a bad time... >.>... I just took up programming last year, so being forced to readapt O.O.

For those of us who have been using XHTML 1.1 for a while, the frameset is already gone. Not that it is ever very useful anyways.

However if a frameset is still needed, you can always just use an older doctype.

I hate XHTML XD! Not because it's hard, but because just when you think you've got it, you find an error >.>. But eh, I guess that's another point to "strict" right? ;)

Well, from what I've been hearing, HTML 5 is in testing right now (due for release soon)HTML5 is in first public working draft. The specification is not likely to reach CR (Candidate Recommendation) for a couple of years still. And then to actually become a REC (Recommendation) there is a question of having at least two fully compatible implementations of the specification. Which is likely going to take longer time than getting the spec from initial WhatWG draft to W3C CR took.
A lot of things are becoming depreciated in HTML 5, for instance, frameset I heard is going the way of the buffalo =/... :(.Which is a development that has been in progress since HTML 4.01. Browsers will still have to support it though.
