I'm looking to build a new gaming PC by the time Warhammer Online or Spore comes out (whichever comes first).

My original plan was to get an alienware, but they didn't take switch and their customer support was rubbish. Then I ordered with www.pcspecialist.co.uk, after it was a month late and again with terrible customer service, I cancelled the order and spent the money on birthday presents for my parents.

I've looked at other online retailers - I could get a really good machine from www.pcoption.co.uk for £2k but reviews have been really bad - computers delivered faulty or late or with the wrong parts and worst of all with really rude customer service that tell you basically to stop bugging them. Obviously I'm sure they have lots of customers who are completely happy but staff being rude to you when you have a problem (particularly when its their fault) is something I just wont tolerate.

So I've come to the conclusion that self-build is the best option. I usually get my parts from www.overclockers.co.uk, speccing up what I want came to around £2.8k, but I was just wondering if I could get the same top-spec parts cheaper elsewhere. I know I could get them about half the price in the US but I haven't found any US retailers that ship to the UK - also, I'm a little concerned about power issues, obviously you have different power supplies over there but I'd be concerned that other components wouldn't deal well with UK power.

What's the rough spec you are looking at?

In terms of online stores, one of the cheapest I've found (and who are also my usual supplier) is eBuyer UK (http://www.ebuyer.com).

Rough Spec,

3Ghz Quad Core QX9650
8GB DDR-2 (I decided DDR-3 wasn't worth the extra cost)
2x GeForce 8800 Ultra
Razer IAS Barracuda AC-1 Gaming 7.1 Sound Card
3x 1TB SATA drives

plus all the extras - case, monitor, mobo, extra fans, optical drives
