I used crucial.com to find ram for my computer. Purchased it. and it should be here tomorrow.
My ram is located under a little cover on the bottom of my laptop.
I dont know how to install it, or if you just take out the old and put in the new.
Anyone know how to install ram or if theres anything i should know before trying?
Id appreciate anything towards the subject.

On most laptops the ram has two spring loaded clips on each side of the ram. Just push the clips away from the ram and it will pop out. Match the ends up to the slots on the laptop. You are lucky since your ram bay is on the bottom of your laptop. Some laptops require you to remove the keyboard first at which point isn't easy to do for a novice. To be safe you may want to unplug your laptop, remove your battery and hold down the power button for a few seconds after you have no power sources connected on the laptop. Most manufacturers have manuals on how to change our your ram and stuff. Just go to your manufacturers website and look for the manual. Post your laptop model and manufacturer here and it might help find it quicker because others can find it as well.

So I can just pop out the old and pop in the new?

Yeah though most laptops only have two slots for ram and its smaller in size than ram for a desktop pc. It would probably help if you actually looked at the ram bay rather than just ask about it.

Make sure you ground yourself before you start touching the RAM chips and the insides of your laptop.

Are you sure you found the correct ram? Did you use their scanner or did use their drop down menu to select your ram? Are you sure you put in the right model?

I went from one gigabyte to four gigabytes in my PC.
Couldn't tell any difference at all. Apart from keeping free of viruses and spyware; the only thing that noticably speeds up my PC is regular defragging.

Hmm.
I upgraded my XP Home from 1GB 667Mhz to 2GB, and saw a noticeable improvement.

I have a four gigabyte Ready Boost flash drive. That too makes no noticable difference.
Perhaps my new PC on order will do better.

Ready boost isn't an "increase" in ram. It just stores the commonly used drivers on the drive because its quicker to access the jump drive than the harddrive. If thats your idea of a ram upgrade then yeah you aren't going to see much difference.
