View Full Version : Web Development Client Area

Ok,

So I am starting a web development business. I have noticed that some of the other web development businesses out there have what they refer to as a "client area".

I got to thinking about this, and what I would like to do is provide my clients with a username and password when they pay for web design services. Then, when they log in, they can preview the site at the state that it is in (during the development phase).

I thought about storing the pages in a MySQL database, however, it seems like that would be too cumbersome.

I also thought about .htaccess/.htpasswd files for each client, however, that too would get very complicated very quickly.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to implement a system like this?

Thanks,
Cameron

EDIT: Also, if I get this system built, I plan on open sourcing it, so, IMHO, it would be very beneficial to you if you help me. :P

Hi there,

There's a lot of stuff out there to do what you want ... it all depends on how you intend to host the pages.

Check this out: http://www.hotscripts.com/PHP/Scripts_and_Programs/User_Authentication/index.html

I hope that helps! :)
