im making a website. a very straight forward easy website. im very new to this so i just had one question. i went to the root folder and copied my index file, pasted it into the same folder and changed them name to one of the other pages i am making. when i load it into dreamweaver it shows up as the index, which is what i want ( im just gonna change the text and pictures within the different pages) but when i got to start linking the tabs to each seperate page it doesnt work, because i guess its still coded as the index....

so my question is, is there a way to copy the layout of one page and paste it into a different html page and not have them be the same thing? would save alot of time.

Open your index page, and choose "save as" then save it as a different name (about.html, contact.html ext..)

i tried that but it didnt work. when i started adding target links for my navigation buttons it would change the target location for all 6 buttons when i only selected a destination for one.

ill try again though to do it that way. thank you.

Try it using a browser other than Internet Explorer - IE tampers with the code it saves to embed a whole load of unnecessary extra code that messes things up.

go to the folder where u saved them and see what they are saved as. Double click the pages and see what address is being used in the browser address bar and try linking to thatr exact address.
