i ave been having a problem searching on this site, here is the details of what i did...

Searching for: 'javascript class change'

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /home/gchiang/public_html/search.php on line 884

i know that it is a PHP error but for once its not my problem to fix it so yipee...

I noticed thsat a few weeks ago when I was searching for something.

It seemed only to happen then, though, if my keyword was likely not specific enough and the results were much larger than could be coped with.

When I used more keywords, it seemed not to do it.

The error has to do with PHP exhausing all the available memory to perform the search task. The settings were upped a long time ago, and personally since then I've yet to receive the above error message again. If it happens frequently enough I'll have to ask the host to do some more tweaking.
