input box caret

1. Is there any way I could change input box caret character,color, or al least made it wider, like it gets when u press insert in lets say net beans ide, ms word I think, ....

2. subquestion, offtopic --> how to make input box behave on ENTER same as on TAB , i.e. move to next input box in tab order.

Mybe I did not explain well enough.
In empty input box there is blinking '|' at begining. I want that to be different, not the text typed in.

It's impossible to style that, I'm afraid.
