Hi there

I have a site that works well in mozilla based browsers but not.

I have a sort of div iframe with a fixed background and auto content scrollers ... which don't seem to even come close to happening in IE ..

Hello caymaniac,
IE6 is such a pain. It doesn't do .png well so you see the corners and opacity of your image is wrong.
It also messes up background fixed... see this page: http://pmob.co.uk/faqcss/tutorial06/index.htm

Great . thanks for that link .. i will try and work through it .. i will probably need a seperate IE style sheet i imagine ..

... but i was actually testing in IE7

Hmm.

IE7 appears to be working just the same as IE6 here. (except for the fact that the .png works)

That works for .png images, not for .png backgrounds.

This will fix IE6 png issues. You can use them on png backgrounds as well as regular images.

Make sure you read through the docs cause there are some gotchas. Such as, if you use it to fix a png on a bg, you can't use the css position property with an a tag on top of it. You also can't use the background-position property. And others.

Ok lets ignore IE6 ... i can't even get this image to stay where it is meant to in IE7 .. which is meant to accept the fixed property ...

#main #text{
background: url(images/textbox_main.png) no-repeat fixed;
background-image: url(images/textbox_main.png) no-repeat fixed;
background-attachment: fixed;
position: absolute;
height: 300px;
width: 670px;
margin: 5px 5px 5px 5px;
font-weight: bold;
left: 48px;
color: #fff;
overflow: auto;
top: 110px;
padding: 0px 10px 0px 10px;
}
why would ie 7 ignore that .. i have tried everything !
