Hi all,

I'm trying to track down a simple and functional search engine script to search the pages on my website. If anybody has any idea where to find something like this, please do let me know.

Thanks

You might try a one that is hosted. I am told that Atomz (http://www.atomz.com/search/trial_account.htm) is quite good. You might also try Whatuseek (http://intra.whatuseek.com/?synd=box&chan=6) . If that is not what you want the try CGI ResourceIndex (http://www.cgi-resources.com/) . They should have several scripts that you can use.

Thanks, requestcode

Any idea if there's something out there specifically in Javascript?

Take a look at these in JavaScriptkit's very own Free Scripts Section.

Word to the wise - javascript search engines have a major advantage that you control which pages are returned specifically in response to which keywords; this is also the major disadvantage - that this limits the search to the keywords you've specified.

A server-side search engine will index the actual page content, and be more useful for most situations. I also recommend Atomz - I've used them for years with nothing but good results.
