Please help CSS newbie

I know html formatting and everything but im still having a hard time visualizing how everything works. Could some one recommend a good spot to start learning how the coding works, what all the command phrases are and how the files link together. I need something that shows like this link of text references/affects this line of txt and the finished product looks like this.

That's a good place to start learning CSS tags. You can play around with those examples and it'll show you what it'll look like.
