As others have stated requirements help a lot. There are hosts who specialize in offering larger amounts of space and bandwidth but being more strict about things such as CPU usage. There are other hosts where you'll pay an arm and a leg for it but they'll walk you through pretty much anything over a live chat, support ticket or even over the phone.
