Link to a tutorial: XML Drop down (http://www.kirupa.com/developer/actionscript/xml_dropdown_menu.htm)
this tutorial is about making a drop down menu driven by XML in flash but you can apply it to the same princable in HTML :)

Hey i have managed to use that page to create my menu, but when trying to add in a menu within the menu e.g

NEWS
VISION > with options of About Bigsky & Test > then from TEST options of John St, Meet them Team & Funding

Main headings of NEWS, VISION etc

then within VISION there are subheadings of About Bigsky,TEST

and from TEST i want further options to appear (highlighted in red) but it keeps removing these further menu options and not showing them

Any idea why it gets rid of those items?

<?xml version="1.0"?>
<menus>
<menu name="NEWS" url="yoururl">
</menu>
<menu1 name="VISION" url="yoururl">

<menu1.1 name="TEST" url="yoururl">

</menu1.1>
</menu1>

<menu2 name="DEPARTMENTS" url="yoururl">

</menu2>

<menu3 name="NETWORK" url="yoururl">

</menu3>

<menu4 name="SERVICES" url="yoururl">

</menu4>

<menu5 name="CONTACT" url="yoururl">

</menu5>
</menus>

Why not just take an approach similar to XHTML 2.0 and have menu elements nested inside menu_item elements, like nl (navigation list) and li (list item) elements?

<menu>
<menu_item>Main menu
<menu>
<menu_item>Sub-Menu
<menu>
<menu_item>Sub-Sub-Menu</menu_item>
</menu>
</menu_item>
</menu>
</menu_item>
</menu>

Just an example with no items, of course, but it does demonstrate how it might work. It might be rendered as:

Main Menu
Sub-Menu
Sub-Sub-Menu

Just a thought...
