Graphics and web design are two of my weak points so I need you help guys,

I was looking at css play and in particular, their top nav menu (from a graphics perpective).

I have such a menu coded but I am struggling to make the background look either as glossy or graded in my colour scheme or even to make it look tubular, like it is raised off the page.

What software would help. I currently have only basic colour schemers or matchers so far. The light colour would be along the lines of #f0d562 and the darker colour something like #875b21

Any pointers appreciated.

Hey bazz,

I attached a psd of 2 types. And here are some links that might help.

Thanks Alan it's funny how our eyes can be tricked into shading being glossiness. I'll read up on those links further.

BTW your zip was empty and according to my photoelements, in the wrong format.

Not empty, I turned off the layer visibility to make it small enough to attach. It was done in PS7 so it maybe incompatible with elements. sorry about that. but it was basically 2 styles like in the links but with your colors.

lol.

@Harbinger: I opened your zip file in some domestic software and it showed me the contents. Lovely graphics especially the second (lower), one.

Thanks.
