I recently updated my site (1 week ago). I changed all the content & meta tags to make the site more search engine friendly. My site is fairly new and does not have many back links. As a result all search engines still have my old site content & meta description as they have yet to crawl my updated site.
Does anyone have a reasonable estimate of when they will crawl my new site? (specifically google & yahoo)

To make aware all SE bots of your new content and to invite SE spiders to your site so that they will crawl your site and will index new updated contents you will need to get many backlinks which from the pages which are already indexed.
Also don't forget to submit sitemap this will help SE spider to crawl your site deeper.

For Google, you can go here:
I'm not sure if it really helps... but what can it hurt?
You can also go here to see exactly how Google looks at your website and how to improve it.
You will need to sign up for a Google account if you don't already have one. I think and existing Google service account can log in.

Thanks for the info webhostinguk but I know the fundamentals of CEO. I was just curious to hear some estimates of how long it could take them to crawl my site as I have yet to start my link building campaign.

There is no real set time. But to make that time faster get out as many links as possible. Put a link in the sig of all the forums you use. Try to get links on popular related websites. I personally stay away from the site directory websites... I like to build real links that will actually draw visitors not just robots.
