There is a samle which I picked up somewhere on net. it has nice roudd edge and transparncy is allso ok. The prbl. is that each time I try to recreate something like this at this size, with whichewer pogram the edge of circle becomes "square shaped", or dotted scattered, or ....
The best approximation was that I blured the whole thing, but that is not it !
Any suggestions on tools, procedures to recreate this i.e similar image with sharp round edge ?

Use a vector graphic program (e.g. Fireworks, Illustrator, CorelDraw, etc.) and draw a circle. Itís as simple as that. I donít know what program you used but Photoshop isnít made for that kind of thing. Also, this tutorial on icon design (http://www.mezzoblue.com/archives/2007/02/21/icon_design/) might help.

thanks, managed to do it with fireworks. though there is one wierd thing:
some images that I created before looked OK in Irfan View and bad in browser, now it is just opposite, in IV looks clearly hexagonal, in browser is OK, like sample in first post. Sample in first post looked OK in both cases.
this at this size, with whichewer pogram the edge of circle becomes "square shaped", or dotted scattered, or ....
yea whats happening is that your image, when your rescaling it is becoming pixelated.. hence all the sharp pointy edges.. trying increasing your base dpi from 72 to AT LEAST 300 dpi.. your file size will get a lot larger.. but dont worry.. your image will look tons better... once you resize to your liking.. convert it back down to 72 dpi.. if its for web.. because most monitors can only display 72 DPI (dots per inch).... print media is usually at 300 dpi which is a 150 lpi (lines per inch)
