clunky CSS (wordpress) IE positioning Help!

I decided (on a whim) to redesign my journal today, and got about 90% finished before I took a look at IE's liberal interpretation of my work... Keep in mind I'm not the most well versed @ CSS, but I don't feel like I'm a complete retard either.

I need to make the top images and the search bar play nice with my design. Looks great in firefox, I imagine I'm overlooking something

Either I neglected to declare something, or IE is just not happy with my positioning statements.

Please steer me in the right direction.

so my only errors had nothing to do with my problem. so I'm still on the hunt for an answer.....
