When I preview templates in dreamweaver I only see code in the browser. It used to be that I got a proper page preview. Can anyone explain what could cause this?

Is the code syntax highlighted? If its not then its likely you are just using a text document rather than an actual html file.

Well the extension is .dwt

The annoying thing is that it used to work fine when previewing with templates.

Or maybe it was just my imagination. Maybe it was just looking at the page and pressing f5 when I saved the template but I don't think that was the case.

Apply the template to an html page and just preview that.

yeah I found Dreamaweaver's preview is not to be trusted. What looked fine in Dreamweaver, looked TERRIBLE in a real browser, and vice versa. Also sometimes I find Dreamweaver doesn't load images (preview again) but they show up in Firefox.

yeah , you have to take the good with the bad. I still depend on dreamy though

What version of dreamweaver you using? My preview works fine for firefox, but it doesn't load for IE. Sometimes certain things won't show because it uses the wrong path since it creates it in the templates folder.

You can select your template file ...dwt, right click and choose 'open with', then select your browser.

If you want to do this regularly, you can use File Options on the .dwt files to give your browser as an option when you right click.

If I open with firefox by right clicking in dreamweaver it works fine, but if I press F12 (preview in firefox) it doesn't work.

btw what do you mean by file options

btw what do you mean by file options

Sorry, I should have said Tools, Folder Options, File Types, from the blue top menu bar in Windows explorer.
