Portfolio

Hi!

When building a portfolio (for web and graphic design), is it then okay to put up some designs, which have not yet been used by anybody, but which you have designed yourself? Or does it have to be "in use"?

The reason I'm asking is, that I have done a couple of designs, but have not yet had any paying customers = I have no portfolio.

That’s no problem at all. Basically on your portfolio you’re showing off your skills as designer/programmer/whatever, and it doesn’t matter if your perfectly designed site is used by anyone yet, the skills matter.
Presenting the clients one has worked for is just kind of a show off to convince potential clients in a more convincing manner that they can trust you… or something like that.
