View Full Version : Copying Scripts from the Internet

Hello

I just started using this site and found alot of scripts that I like to run on my own in Frontpage (HTML). So I would copy the code and paste (highlight, right click, copy and paste) it in my Frontpage.

But when I paste it, the code is not HTML any more and Frontpage read it as text. The only way I can do this is by first copying it to Notepad then from Notepad to Frontpage. By doing this Frontpage let me paste it as HTML code.

Is there an easier way to test scripts from the internet?

I've never used FrontPage, but I hear there is a "source view" option that you can use to paste pure code in... I'd have a look around for something like that.

Well, what do you know? FrontPage managed to get installed on my computer somehow... LOL (I'm not making fun, I really didn't know it was on my computer since I don't use it)!

You see the little tabs on the bottom? That say "Normal" "HTML" "Preview" ?

Choose "HTML" and then paste the code in there. I believe that will solve your problem.

Unfortunately it doesn't work that well whammy.

In the thread I posted below is a reference to "Paste Special" but I find it's always grayed out when I want to use it.

Why does FP insist on putting the <b> and <span> tag around it?

I guess MicroSoft is too smart for its own good.

Like I said, I never use FrontPage (for reasons which should now be obvious to you!)... but I also noticed

Insert/Advanced/HTML

I don't know if this is any help either, really... I would personally advise using another editor like EditPad Pro, or HTML KIT, or I've also heard (but haven't tried) UltraEdit.

I've never noticed Insert/Advanced/HTML so I looked it up in the help file. It appears that you have to insert it in Normal view. Leaving html placement to FP is almost always a bad thing so I think I'll stick to a text editor.

The program is stable if you turn off all the auto code formatting and work in HTML view.
