I need some more information to be able to help you fully. Which programming languages are you familiar with? Is it you that put the word-file there or should a user be able to upload it?
If it's you you can just save it in the HTML-format in word and just put it in the iframe. That's the easiest way, but if users should be able to upload files it becomes much more difficult, you'll have to use Words COM-object. For PHP you can find a bit information about how you use it here: http://www.phpbuilder.com/columns/yunus20031124.php3?page=1. There is also a class that makes handling of the COM-object easier: http://www.phpclasses.org/browse/package/3553.html.
With the help of the COM-object you'll have to in some way convert it to HTML.
When it comes to showing and editing of the document there will surely be many limitations of the formatting, you can't count on that it will look the same.
What I don't understand why you want it in an iframe, it can be an easy way to display it, but not to edit.
To edit HTML visually you can use FCKeditor (http://www.fckeditor.net/) och TinyMCE (http://tinymce.moxiecode.com/). They provide some basic formatting of the text and images.
Then you just get the users input and save it to the database the usual way.
I don't know exactly what you want to do, but I would really recommend that you save or tell the users to save the word document in HTML, it makes it much more easy.
Explain a bit more and I perhaps can help you with some code or more advice.
