View Full Version : Differences between IE and Firefox

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum, although I've been coding (badly!) with CSS for a little while.

I'm coding a new version of a website I run using a CSS layout as opposed to tables. Unfortunately it seems to work fine in firefox, but not in IE7. I'm not sure when the problems occurred, my own fault for not checking it in IE more frequently.

The right hand navigation bar is positioned slightly to the left in IE leaving a bar of grey on the right.

I'm fairly certain the problem is due to padding, but am not completely sure. Any help would be appreciated

Many thanks.

Appears to be corrected. The document was in quirks mode due to a server side script error.

How very strange. This is something I haven't come across before and explains why I couldn't figure out what change I had made to make this happen!

You have got a newline or white space before your doctype that is preventing your page from validating - http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blythgolf.co.uk%2FV2%2Ftestlayout%2F&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

However, if you get past that problem (copy and past source directly into validator), your markup has 24 errors and your css has these problems - http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/validator?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blythgolf.co.uk%2FV2%2Ftestlayout%2F&warning=1&profile=css21&usermedium=all

Just a side note.

When using dumby text use "lorem ipsum" http://www.lipsum.com/

It gives the impression of actual text instead of repeating the word "Long Text, Long Tex, Long Text, etc...."
