Do you have a network card installed??? Are you on a network??? If you answers are yes and no respectively, then your problems lies there... Most likely what is happening is XP setup your network components and is now searching for that network... It takes so long to boot up because it waits until the timeout period before continuing... Uninstall your networking components or make sure they are configured properly if you need them...

1. Yes your system is compatible...

2. Depends... Program load isn't a factor unless you make it one but if your like me (have 20 progs open at the same time) expect a drag in performance...

3. Pro and Home are pretty much the same with the exception that Pro has networking components built-in... Home you have to install them...

4. Either one, they are both pretty much the same... :)

I believe you can, but it's buried in the registry... I'd have to do some research to find the exact key...

How did you configure your network??? What other protocols are you using??? The only one you should need is TCP/IP...

The problem lies within your network setup, not the device setup... Review your settings... Make sure you are using DHCP (unless your ISP provides you with a static IP) and that you are only using the TCP/IP protocol... Other than that, your pc should be member of a workgroup and not a domain...
