I am hopefully getting my own proper host soon, with all sorts of goodies, but thing is, I would like a forum, and a way to post new messages (like everything/nothing sites) and a way for users to add comments to my main page posts.
see http://www.dogbomb.co.uk for example
I am wondering, how long would I have to go to achieve that by learning php? I know html, css, jscript thats all.
Or is someone know a place where I can get what I am after? Or anything,
Creating a complete content management system using php/mysql will require that you learn the two languages fairly well. There are scripts out there that you can utlilize instead if you don't mind the "cookie cutter" generic look. Some noteworthy CMS scripts are:
PHPNuke (http://www.phpnuke.com)
PostNuke (http://www.postnuke.com)
pMachine (http://www.pmachine.com)
MoveableType (http://www.moveabletype.org)
Hope this sheds some light,

I use GreyMatter (http://www.noahgrey.com/greysoft/) for my weblog. It's easy to configure and get going.

There a plenty of hosts that have PHP, Perl, SSI, MySQL etc. enabled, and they don't charge enormous amounts for it. Shouldn't be a problem to find a suitable one. Or did you mean a free host?
