I'm on a mission of searching a write processor for my home desktop .. right now I am using Intel P4 3.0 GHz Hyper Threading tech. I am not very fond of gaming ... all i need is something reliable and doesn't hang ... should be very good enough in Multi Tasking.

I was looking for reviews at CNET b.w Intel and AMD ... and i'm totally confused.

anyhelp will be appreciated.

thanks,

Saeed.

I'm usually the person to say AMD but right now I'd say go Intel. Intel's Core 2 Duo/Quad are very good processors, they're slightly better performance wise than AMD for most non-game uses, as well as for Intel optimised games.

Also, AMD is lagging behind in going to better process technology, they're lagging behind in reducing power usage and thus temperature output, and they're lagging behind in the multicore race.

Yes thats right. Intel Core 2 Duo is far better than AMD processors. AMD processors basically are for gaming but usually hangs. This is not the case with Intel Cor 2 Duo. So I recommend you to go for Intel.

And what pray tell is your basis that AMD processors hang? If there was actually a serious problem with them, no one would be using them.

However I would also recommend the Core 2 Duo, it is a great processor.
