View Full Version : looking to add a 'progressive golden flash' to this jpeg

This may be unrealistic (and I say so because I have no idea how hard this will be) but I want to add some sort of stunning visual effect to this image (www.enviromark.ca/head/images/nav_helper.jpg)

Currently it is getting lost in the text, so when it loads I wants to have something about it draw the attention of the user. you can see what i mean by it getting lost if you go here: www.enviromark.ca/head/index.php

I was thinking of having a 'golden wave' go across it (yes, i'm thinking of something i've seen in a movie preview, lol).

Is this even possible? Can you suggest another way of doing this or other effects??

Thanks :)

You could maybe make that into an animated gif and make it flash, or blink, couple times for every few seconds. That way people's attention goes to the navigation helper text without it being too fancy.

Doing an animated gif would be easiest, another option would be to find a javascript function that would make a color change to the DIV containing that text instead of an image.

Perhaps it might be cleaner to just put 'Menu' or some term in the topText DIV so when people aren't rolled over the menu they clearly know the images are for the menu?

You should read this

Not saying that your site sucks but you have the navigation part down.

hahaha Aero, i was wondering when you'd weigh in on the subject :D

I agree with you, however this was once of the few stipulations that the organization imposed in terms of how they wanted the site layed out... my hands were tied at that point -- however I did try to be as semantically correct as possible since our last little chat, so i do listen :)

Jeremy ... that is a fantastic idea! I will do that now!
