Hi all
I have a myspcace page which I use for extra promo www.myspace.com/daveyindahouse. I am trying to show 3 quicktime slide shows that I put together, but a code which I currently have active on the page is preventing the quicktime code from working.

Basically, I have this other code operating in there that makes any click that follows it active to my website. I want to keep that there, but I want to be able to disable it right before the quicktime codes, so that I can make the quicktimes work.

Then I could just type in the old code after the quicktimes and any click following would go to the website. So my question to you is; does anyone know what code I would type in right before the quicktime vids, so that the other code is not effecting the quicktimes?

This is the code that currently is pointing clickers to my website

Aloha

yep, I can see that this is a real busy forum. People just crawling over each other to answer.......

...and sarcasm is clearly the way to get help for your site...

First of all, we do not typically just "make" code on request. We assist with specific problems and provide support where we can. Your question is very vague. "...this other code operating in there that makes any click that follows it active to my website" is not very descriptive and the fact that you have not provided this "other code" so we can see what you are doing is also a deterrent to getting help.

Second, this sounds like a question that belongs in something like the Javascript forum. Your issue does not sound like something that can be easily fixed through HTML and CSS.

Also of note, we do not typically provide help to "deactivate" anything because most of the time users are trying to find ways of getting around ads on free sites, etc. The title of your thread is presumptuous and a little arrogant in suggesting that we are just here to supply you with code. How about asking politely "Can anyone help with a link re-routing issue?" instead? Keep in mind, we simply may not be able to assist with your problem and you may need to consider another avenue with your project.

What you may want to do, is re-word your title, PM a moderator and kindly ask them to move your thread to the appropriate forum. At that point, you may also want to provide more information (e.g. this "code" you are using) and wait to see if anyone can help.

Hope this helps you here...

Hey Sean,

Welcome to the forums. I'm not quite understanding something. The code that you provided, doesn't stop quicktime from loading as it requires user intervention in order for it to work. Basically, in order for you to take a picture you either have to press the button on the camera or set a timer that completes the action for you. Let me see if I can perhaps guess at what you are looking at.

A person goes to your myspace page. When they see the link to your website, they click the link and then the quicktime movies stop because the myspace page goes away and is replaced by your website. Is this what you were meaning?

If so, then as long as myspace supports it, you can rewrite your link as such:
<a href="http://www.seandavey.com" alt="www.SeanDavey.com" target="_blank">..</a>HTH,

Thanks guys. Sorry if you thought I was arrogant. I'm not. Just pretty clueless on coding issues. I looked high and low, trying to work this one out. I stumbled on your forum and thought it was the most likely one that would get me an answer.

These are the codes that I'm using at the moment.

This is the code that sends all clicks that follow it to my website;

<br><a href="http://www.seandavey.com"alt="www.SeanDavey.com"..</a><br>

And this is one of the codes that is supposed to make a quicktime vid work, but is currently being over run by the above code. At least, I think it is anyway....

<?> Copy & paste the following...

<!-- begin embedded QuickTime file... -->
<table border='0' cellpadding='0' align="center">
<!-- begin video window... -->
<tr><td>
<OBJECT classid='clsid:02BF25D5-8C17-4B23-BC80-D3488ABDDC6B' width="50"
height="55" codebase='http://www.apple.com/qtactivex/qtplugin.cab'>
<param name='src' value="http://seandavey.com/htdocs/MySpacePix/Beach_Davey Folio_s.mov&quot;&gt;">
<param name='autoplay' value="false">
<param name='controller' value="true">
<param name='loop' value="true">
<EMBED src="http://seandavey.com/htdocs/MySpacePix/Beach_Davey Folio_s.mov&quot;&gt;" width="50" height="55" autoplay="false"
controller="true" loop="true" pluginspage='http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/'>
</EMBED>
</OBJECT>
</td></tr>
<!-- ...end embedded QuickTime file -->
</table>

Thanks for your help guys.

Aloha

Thanks for the heads up there nightfire. Unfortunately, it didn't work. Must be something to do with myspace.

Thanks

Sean
