I know HTML, but what kind of coding do I really need to build and code a professional kind of website? I'm willing to start learning. PHP? The kind of website I'm hoping to build is maybe a video website where I upload certain videos for other members to watch. An automated video updater kind of script would need to be created. Also, maybe a log-in system.
What kind of coding knowledge will I need to accomplish this?
Thanks. (Sorry if the details are a bit confusing)

PHP with MySQL ...
The nice thing about PHP is that there are so many free scripts
available ... things like Joomla, where you can upload/install it and
you're ready to go (except for customizing the layout and design).
Also tons of good tutorials on using PHP and doing PHP scripting.
Use Google to search for PHP things.

Agreed with PHP to program scripts and MySQL for databases. They are both free and widely supported by hosts. Knowledge of PHP, no matter what level, will enable you to greatly increase your ability to make server side applications.
For a video site, you could also use some form of a flash video player. Flash is not free, and Actionscript is the language used with it. There are free flash video players you could use, a couple very good ones actually.
