Add Scanner and Camera In Windows

When I choose add imaging device, a list of manufacturers is shown. I have a Canon scanner and it is not listed there. How do I install my Canon scanner then? I tried the 'Have Disk' option and choose the .inf file but it doesn't work. It doesn't show my scanner. What kind of file should I download to get it to show Canon?

Are you using Windows Vista?

There are loads of devices that are not compatible with Windows Visa....and I am having a similar problem with a HP1010 laser printer myself....and HP keep saying that they are going to release drivers for Vista July 2007...but that has long gone...and no drivers yet which is really annoying.

Anyway...use the following link to download the drivers from Canon...and hopefully, they will have drivers compatible with your operating system.

If the downloaded driver does not come with an installer, you may want to use "Add Hardware" wizard from the control panel...and then search for drivers from a file...browse for the downloaded file...and there you go.

I have the hp psc 1210. Its the scanner, copier, and printer all in one. Vista Business loaded the drivers instantly. Vista now requires that you use the Windows Fax and Scan program that comes installed by default. I've been using it and haven't had any problems with it.

mine is the canon mp160. i connect it to the print server which is connected to the wireless router. but i can't seems to find the option to add a wireless scanner.

Do you not have the drivers that came with it? I've found that having the printer plugged in and then using the disc with the drivers on it worked fine or if you are able to browse for the drivers then point to the disc with the drivers on it, it should also work.
