View Full Version : Hot Spots (Area Shape < >) tag question.

I have a big picture, with about 10 different

<area shape="poly" coords=1,2,3,4,etc>

tags in it.

I have added title="comment" to each of them so when the user hovers over an area defined by the poly co-ords, a tooltip appears.

However, what I would really like is that when the user's mouse is over an area of the picture that is defined in the <area shape..> tag, that the area defined changes colour, or has a border around it or something.

So as the user moves the mouse around the picture, the differently defined areas will be outlined as they move the mouse about.

Is this possible?

Best wishes and thanks for any help

As you have use the polygon shape the areas have been defined.

include onmouseover="this.focus()" within the area shape tag.

This will highlight the border with the usual white dotted line.

I know this works in IE5.5 but cannot say for the other browsers.

Anything other than the above could mean extensive work in an image editor reshading your image hotspots etc. etc

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately in IE6 this seems to scroll the page so the polygon shape area is in the centre of the screen, and nothing happens in Mozilla, but I'll have a play anyway.

Cheers. :thumbsup:
