My sister is having problems logging onto Scotiabank online banking as it says that her computer does not accept cookies. I had a look and Firefox is set to accept all cookies, no problems. I even put scotiabank.com into the Allowed section, but still would not allow it. It works fine in IE. I thought it was a coding problem with the site, but when I got home I went to the Scotiabank site in Firefox and it was willing to let me in. Now I'm confused.
Any idea why it thinks her Firefox won't allow cookies?
She is using Windows XP Home with a fully up-to-date version of Firefox.
Thanks!

Security software can sometimes cause things to not work properly in browsers. Do you know if she has any installed?

She's using the free version of ZoneAlarm (as am I) and also the free version of Avast (as am I).
I can't find anything in ZoneAlarm regarding cookies and didn't look in Avast.
Could either of these be the culprit? Any idea where to look, what settings to change?
I forgot to mention that she can access another bank online in Firefox without a problem and Firefox does accept cookies from other sites.

Has she ever been able to log onto the specific site?
I suspect a previous cookie that is either of a different format (the site changed what was being stored in the cookie) or the cookie is corrupted. Try finding and deleting any existing cookies that match any form of the site's domain.

It may very well be zone alarm. I know by default it blocks private headers and cookies. Ask her to disable zone alarm temporarily and try to login to the site.

My sister was afraid to disable ZoneAlarm, so it had to wait until I was here.
So I tried disabling ZoneAlarm. No help. I disabled Avast at the same time, also no help. While both were disabled, I tried a force-refresh (SHIFT+Reload), still no help. I purged the Cookies (there was no Scotiabank cookie, but I purged them anyway). I also Cleared the Private Data. No help. I closed and re-opened Firefox between each try. No luck.
Any other ideas?
She has no troubles using cookies with other sites. In fact, there were hundreds of them on here.
The following is the cookie detector:
https://www.scotiaonline.scotiabank.com/online/index.jsp
Is there any way you can look at that to see what I should be looking for on this system?
Or if you have any other suggestions?
Thanks!

Does she get redirected to this page?

Yes, it always goes there.

Okay sounds like Firefox is actually blocking the site from setting a cookie. Go to the Tools menu > Options > Privacy > Click the Exceptions button > Look for the site in the list, if its there click on it and hit remove > Hit Close > Hit OK.

I have already added both scotiabank.com and scotiaonline.scotiabank.com to the Exceptions as Allow. (I think it's redundant to have both in there, but it can't hurt.) It has no effect.
Should I remove them entirely? Or is there something else?

Incredibly bizarre, since this would be the state I started in, yet it worked! lol
I still don't know what went right all of a sudden....
But thank you very much for your patience and assistance. :)

As stated in my first post on this thread, it worked fine in IE. I'm not sure how logging in with IE will make it work in Firefox, which was my question. As well, my question has been answered, my problem has been solved, as noted in the last post I made to this thread yesterday.
Anybody know if there is a way to close this thread? Maybe a moderator could do it? Thanks :)
