View Full Version : is there a way to validate the filter property in CSS?

I wanted to validate my CSS but I couldn't, because of the filter property used for a PNG image that wouldn't display in IE.
Is there any way possible to validate my CSS and still use this property?

No, the filter property is not part of the official W3C standards and will therefore never be valid (according to these standards). What you can do, though (and what Iím always doing), is to put the IE specific styles into a separate, IE specific stylesheet and put it in (hidden) conditional comments in your HTML. The validator and any browser other than Internet Explorer will parse it as regular comment, and thus just ignore it.

Thank you so much for your help. I have included IE conditional comments and everything validates.
