configuring tomcat

Hi was hoping I could get some help configuring tomcat so that it will run on my PC. Everytime I try to load it from c prompt the window doesnt even stay open so cant c what is going on. Have used a tutorial to help me configure and run tomcat but didnt help. And made neccessary changes to Environment variable. Please help.

First, what operating system are you using? Is it Windows, Linux, Apple..etc

Second, how and where did you install Tomcat? did you use an installer?

Third, have you install Sun Java JDK? and have you set the environment variables correctly?
