Shopping Baskets and paypal accounts!

Hi,

I am moving into the area of making money from my website, and I was wondering if someone can let me know a source of info on setting up a shopping basket that will accept paypal, and credit and debit card payments on my website...? also, the products i am selling are going to be downloadable audio files to start off with, how would this work where the download needs to be instant?

Go to Google and search for CubeCart.
It's a free PHP/MySQL shopping cart that you can
customize to make it look like the rest of your site.
It can handle either tangible items or software file
downloads and has the gateways for various PayPal
accounts (Pro, Standard, etc).

And if you keep a few CubeCart references on the
pages, it's totally free.

I believe ZenCart and OS Commerce are good free carts as well.

Depending on how many products you have and how complicated you want to make it you may be able to make do with just the cart option available within Paypal itself.

For instant delivery of digital purchases you need a Paypal IPN script that detects when the payment is received and performs appropriate processing (eg. emailing the purchase directly to their email account)

Also look into the free "sandbox" that PayPal provides for developers to
test their shopping carts. With the free "testing site", you create two
fake accounts, the buyer and the seller. It then lets you actually buy
things from your own store using an imaginary credit card. Once your site
is fully tested and functional, you change the PayPal account info to
your real PayPal account.

I've joined sandbox, looks real good, I hope I teaches me to offer paid downloads in my websites. I know that a lot of shopping carts do this but it will be useful for me to know how
