Flash Movies

Hi guys,
Newb looking for help.

Looking to create a movie in flash and then export it as an avi.
Movie will be flash movie symbols and externally imported mpegs/avi
All simple or so I thought.

Am I able to create a flash movie in this way combining flash created elements and mpegs?

Any advice much appreciated.
