Disappearing Page in CSS

I am new to CSS, but am trying to use it without tables. I'm not a professional webmaster, but I try. At any rate, I have a problem. I have run into a roadblock, and was hoping someone would be kind enough to help me out. BTW, I am using Windows 2000 and the latest version of IE.

The CSS is working fine on this test page:

The format of the problem page is essentially the same. I have the page centered, and it has two columns. A large left column, and a smaller right column.

The problem page contains a long passage of text. When it is downloaded into IE, it comes up, then when the right column loads, the part of the text in the left column below where the right one ends, disappears:

On my html editor, Firstpage, and offline in IE, it works just fine. Could this be a problem with my server? I have tried a number of variations, but I am stumped. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Worked ok here.
Win ME / IE 5.5
Was OK with Netscape 7.0, but offset with Netscape 4.7

First time when I viewed the document, problem you've described did appear. Second time : no problem at all.

I noticed major invalidities neither in structure nor presentation. Hence, the problem may have something to do with server, because it seemed like data transfer had interrupted and it does occur only occasionally.

Thanks very much for checking out my page. I guess I'll keep testing it, and possibly contact my webhost for more info. Again, I appreciate the help.
