View Full Version : ASP mailing scripts rejected by hotmail.com

Can anyone tell me if they have had experiences with some of the free web mail servers rejecting (ie. user not receiving) mail sent as part of a 'Refer this site to your friend' asp script?

I have 2 different scripts sent to me by pals... both will send 'refer' mail ok to several private IP account email clients, but is either always rejected (@hotmail.com) or sometimes rejected (@graffiti.net) yet always accepted (@yahoo.com) by various free web email clients!!

I am very ignorant on server side scripts and am wondering if there is a trick to coding them that they will be accepted by all servers. Is it possibly something to do with which system various servers are running on? EG: Apache/Unix/Linux/MS/Others?

I hope I have explained that properly

Cheers!

i do believe hotmail have some kind of filter to stop the flow of spam.
if you have a script up and running let me know and i will PM you an email address which runs of a server with filtering. try your script on it and that will determine where it is a spam filter blocking it.

i got it you can test it on my hotmail account if you want (mattienewt@REMOVETHIShotmail.com) just to prove it wasn`t a hotmail fluke earlier when you tested it on an account.

Thanks... it looks like I may have to rethink their use if they are blocked by the likes of hotmail.com... unless of course, someone can suggest a fix.

I just sent you a private message regarding this... I think you're ok, but I don't want this kind of knowledge more available to the "wannabe spammer" or the public than it already is. ;)
